Mercedes Carrasco is an Economist graduated from the National University Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU) with an MBA from the Pontifical Catholic University Mother and Teacher (PUCMM), where he has also taught.
Since 2014, she is an Advisor to DIGEPRES, leading the axis of budgetary transparency and public participation and participating in the Reform of the Dominican Budget System.
He previously held the same position in the Superintendency of Banks, in the General Directorate of Customs and in the Ministry of Economy Planning and Development (once the Technical Secretariat of the Presidency).
She has also worked in the United Nations Development Program as a Public Policy Advisor in the design of fundamental instruments for targeting and implementing the Conditional Transfer Program.
She was Director of National Accounts and Economic Statistics of the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic, coordinating the preparation of the first Input-Product Matrix, participating in pioneering studies of the Region: Tourism Satellite Account, National Health Accounts and Social Accounting Matrix.
Mercedes has participated in research projects on competitiveness, foreign trade, fiscal policy, decentralization, education, budgetary transparency, financial inclusion, Labor Market, poverty and equity.
